Local energy scotland CARES Programme

CARES Programme

Local Energy Scotland

CARES is delivered by Local Energy Scotland (LES), who, through their network of development officers provide advice and support, including funding support, to community groups and organisations and rural SMEs across Scotland who are seeking to explore their renewable energy options. £8.25 million was made available this financial year to assist community groups in development renewable energy projects.

Our CARES programme will have an increased focus on the decarbonisation of heat, in line with the aims and objectives as set out in our Heat in Buildings Strategy (published October 2021).

An example of this is our Green Recovery Community Assets funding call ran from June – September 2020 and received over 170 initial expressions of interest and 69 funding applications. Project aims included decarbonising energy supply, improving energy efficiency and reducing costs in community buildings.

CARES has just launched a call for off electricity grid communities  https://localenergy.scot/funding/lets-do-net-zero-off-electricity-grid-communities-fund/
